I realize it's been a very long time since I've posted a rum.  It's been a very busy time for me.  But I also have an extensive amount of rum on the go right now.  I expect there will be a flurry of activity in the very near future as quite a few bottles are getting down to their last drops.  I did finish this one a while ago though.
In a word, this rum is DELICIOUS.  It's darker and richer than the regular Appleton Estate.  It is also smoother and less fruity.  Even though, at $39.95, it costs more than the other Appleton products, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

Unfortunately, it may be a while before another Appleton Estate bottle makes an appearance in my blog.  The other products currently available at the LCBO take a bit of a price jump.  There is a Master Blender's Legacy at $89.95, a 21 year old for $149.95 and (I hope you are sitting down) a 50 year old for $5000.00!!!

I am fairly certain that this rum (although it might have been the Reserve) contributed to an extremely enjoyable lunch (ok, maybe the company was good too) at La Société, a pretty swank resto near my work.  It was featured in a non-traditional mojito, replacing the banal white rum.  And the novel addition of strawberries (muddled with the lime and mint) was absolute genius!  It was a welcome innovation and definitely deserves to be revisited.
